The US Cannabis Council (USCC) announced that over two dozen civil rights, business and cannabis industry leaders have joined the organization’s new Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Task Force.
A more diverse cannabis industry means a more prosperous one. Guided by our Core Values, we strive to lead by example with a focus on DEI among our membership, board of directors, and staff. We aim to foster a more equitable industry where participation and success are possible regardless of the numerous factors that have historically held many people, businesses, and communities back.
Social equity is a critical component in every cannabis market, new and old. However, racial and gender diversity is still lacking—especially in ownership and executive positions. Also missing is hard data about it.
